Rubio Avoids Israel Nuclear Question, Calls It Classified Issue
“Before speaking frankly, I think most of the world assesses that they do, but they've never acknowledged that publicly,” Rubio told the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
He said the subject requires careful consideration and involves sensitive diplomatic factors, stopping short of confirming or denying Israel’s nuclear capabilities.
Rubio added that lawmakers would likely receive a fuller explanation in a “classified and sensitive” briefing.
“It's a serious question,” he said, noting that Israel’s long-standing policy of not confirming its nuclear program has been “a feature of our foreign policy.”
