Trump Says Israel, Hezbollah Reached Understanding to Halt Attacks
In statements shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump described recent communication with Israeli leadership, saying he had held discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he characterized as highly positive. He also claimed to have received assurances that Israeli forces would not enter the Lebanese capital.
He stated: "There will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back."
Trump further described what he said were parallel contacts with Hezbollah, indicating that intermediaries were used to relay messages aimed at securing an end to cross-border fighting.
Referring to those exchanges, he said: "Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel."
The development, as presented by Trump, suggests an informal arrangement intended to freeze hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, as well as reduce the risk of escalation involving Lebanon.
