Hezbollah Agrees to US Proposal for Mutual Halt in Attacks with Israel

(MENAFN) According to reports, the Lebanese Embassy in Washington stated that Hezbollah has accepted a US-proposed framework aimed at stopping mutual attacks with Israel, following diplomatic discussions involving senior officials.

The statement said the development followed a phone conversation between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which Lebanese authorities were informed that Hezbollah had agreed to the proposed arrangement.

Under the reported framework, Israeli strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs would be halted in exchange for Hezbollah refraining from launching attacks against Israel. The agreement would then be expanded gradually to include broader Lebanese territory, according to the statement.

The embassy also said that new rounds of US-mediated talks between Lebanese and Israeli representatives are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday to further advance the understanding.

The announcement follows earlier remarks by US President Donald Trump, who said Israel and Hezbollah had reached an understanding to stop hostilities. In a post on Truth Social, he said he had held a “very productive call” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and received assurances that Israeli forces would not be sent into Beirut.
